hi this is mark from

ereplacementparts.com in this video

we're going to show you everything you

need to know to purchase the correct

replacement chain for your chainsaw

there are three numbers you need to know

when purchasing the correct replacement

chain for your chainsaw

those are pitch the number of driver

links and gauge the first number we'll

talk about is pitch pitch is the

distance between any three of the rivets

on the chain divide it in half so in the

case of this chain that would be three

eighths of an inch there are three pitch

sizes commonly used on homeowner chain

saws 3/8 old profile 0.325 and 3/8

regular the second number you need to

know to replace the chain on your

chainsaw is the number of driver links

these pieces here are the driver links

on a chain the only correct way to get

the proper length cane is to count the

number of driver links on that chain a

quick tip when counting driver links on

your chain is to align the chain so the

driver links across from each other that

way you can count two links at a time

the third number you need to know when

replacing a chain on your chainsaw is

the gauge the gauge refers to the

thickness of the driver link you can

easily measure this using a dial caliper

common sizes for gauge are point zero

four three point zero five zero point

zero five eight and point zero six three

of an inch now that you know what you're

looking for oftentimes the numbers can

be found on the chainsaws bar you'll see

on this bar on the top here zero five

zero that would refer to point zero five

zero gauge next three-eighths that would

refer to a 3/8 pitch chain and finally

seventy two DL would refer to seventy

two driver links so everything you need

is right there on the bar now you know

the three measurements you need to find
